About the method:
While her daughter learns to play the violin through the Suzuki method, an unusual idea dawned on linguist Helen Doron. She discovers that once Suzuki teaches the language of music, then her students can learn music in the language itself.
Thanks to her linguistic education, Helen has a profound knowledge of the mechanics of language. While raising her children as bilinguals, she meets the challenges they face when learning English. By this means, the Suzuki Method inspires her to develop her own methodology, through which to teach ”The Music of Language”.
That is how the world-famous Helen Doron method was born. In this method, children learn English as their mother tongue naturally and from an early age. The methodology goes through the normal process of mastering a foreign language – I hear, understand, speak, read, and write. ”The Secret’ is hidden in the combination of passive listening to songs and dialogues at home, and playing games with teachers in class. Thanks to that, the infants imperceptibly absorb new vocabulary while simultaneously connecting learning with a positive experience.
The biggest benefit of the Helen Doron method is that it not solely builds bilingualism in kids but also contributes to their overall development. The objective of the activities in games is to improve fine and coarse motor skills, communication skills, teamwork, empathy, and emotional development. Thereby, the methodology turns into an all-embracing approach to early childhood development aimed at providing the best start in the life of your child!
We all know that nowadays, having a good command of English is not only advisable, but a must to guarantee a prosperous future for every child. Here is why it is crucial for parents to take this endeavor seriously and do their best to realize this goal in a timely manner.
Does your toddler fail to master English despite his regular visits to a language school? No need to worry. Most often, the reason for this is rooted in the low quality of the services provided and also in the lack of desire to acquire new knowledge.
What is the solution?

Our centers are proud of their over 30 years of history and a total of 37 operating branches all over the world. The idea for their creation originated by British linguist Helen Doron. She invents an innovative and effective methodology for teaching English to children through the language of music. And her inspiration is the result of the surprising success of her own daughter, due entirely to the music.
By enrolling your kids at the Helen Doron Language Center, you can be sure that they will undoubtedly be taught a revolutionary methodology. It is based on teaching toddlers first to understand and speak, and then to read and write.
Why that particular set of skills at the expense of the other two?
Although so far, schools have relied on language learning through writing and reading, it has long been shown that there is no connection between them, and speaking and understanding.
The advantage of Helen Doron is its methodology where mastering English resembles the mother tongue. There, children start learning through comprehension and speech.
It is astonishing that thanks to this unique educational innovation, it is even possible for babies to learn English.
That is why there is a long, effective and proven success in all students.
All the educational games we utilize consist of encouragement and re-listening to various music and children’s verses.
Thus, your infant will be happy and keen on visiting our center, where he will not solely master English but also be stimulated intellectually, physically, and emotionally!

1. What is the most suitable age to begin learning a foreign language?
Did you know that kids were born with the marvellous ability to hear and distinguish all 800 sounds in the world? Тhereby, they can learn any foreign language, no matter where in the world they are. Here is why by the age of 1, they turn into “specialists” in their mother tongue due to the fact that they hear it most often. Right from birth, the child begins to master the language seamlessly through games, songs and communication. It is essential to emphasize that the earlier the language acquisition begins, the easier this process will be for the kid. A multitude of studies have shown that by the age of 6, the infant’s brain is programmed to learn languages with greater ease. And most languages at an early age even contribute to the development of childhood intelligence and the brain.

2. Мy child does not speak Bulgarian yet. Does it make sense to study English?
Whether or not a child has spoken, it has been proven that they can understand a language. That is why babies are able to listen for a long time before saying their first word. In fact, speaking is the third stage of natural language acquisition. Before it are “hear” and “understand”. Introducing a second foreign language at an early ageis vital since it builds bilingualism in an infant that can solely be acquired in the early years of the brain’s development. There is a considerable difference between knowing two languages early and later. This is due to all the significant benefits that early language learning brings to childhood development.
3. What is the purpose of listening to English songs and dialogues at home?
The first step of learning a language is ”hear”. After that, long listening to a single language results in “I understand”. By listening to the language at home, the infants can become familiar with its sounds and keep the words in their long-term memory. It has been proven that once a word is already stored in the child’s memory, it is much easier to add an image to it. This also reduces the number of repetitions required to memorize and understand the word. Besides, kids become more confident in speaking freely for an hour since they hear familiar words and are not afraid of making mistakes.
4. Is not one hour a week insufficient?
The method provides brilliant outcomes thanks to the fact that it combines passive listening at home with active play in a lesson once a week. This number of visits guarantees that the children’s interest and desire to attend lessons is maintained. Similarly, in today’s fast-paced schedule for children and parents, the optimal option is to ensure that children are not overstrained and that their parents can easily bring them to lessons.
5. When are children begin learning to read and write in English?
Until the age of 6, through listening and communication, it is a piece of cake for children to learn the grammar of the language. There are a series of cases of children being able to speak a language fluently at the age of four and a half or five.
Exactly there, a multitude of parents rush to the reading and writing stage. In our center, kids begin reading and writing when they are 6-7 years old. A significant detail that we pay special attention to is fine motor skills. It is necessary for it to be well developed so that the learning process is not racking and difficult for the child.
A lot of 5-year-old kids are still not at the right level.
Another vital point is concentration. It is well known that the smaller the children, the shorter their attention span. As far as reading and writing are concerned, they undoubtedly require a longer concentration of attention in a particular activity. And this, in turn, is something that 5-year-olds are still not good at.

6. My little one is very energetic - how will you hold his attention?
By nature, infants are full of energy, rarely concentrating on communicating with you and playing with friends. Here is wjhy they are not expected to be quiet and calm, doing everything perfectly. Luckily, our teachers are well aware of this and they play with students as they are friends. The activities in the class are specifically selected to match the age and retention period for that age. Kinesthetic activities alternate with passive ones to create a sense of rhythm and to maintain children’s curiosity. The environment created by our teachers aims to be as close as possible to the natural environment for language learning.
7. Do I have to attend the lesson with my child?
The presence of a parent during the test lesson together with the child is a must, since this will give you an idea of how we work and the environment in which our lessons take place. Then, in case your kid needs you and is not ready to be alone, you can accompany him. Once you notice that your infant is ready to be in a lesson without you, we encourage you to stop your visits. And if you are in a lesson, it is also essential that you speak English and follow the teacher’s instructions, as children are usually treated differently in the presence of a parent.
Their attention is not absolutely focused in the learning process, often seeking approval and praise from mom or dad after doing something. Apart from that, toddlers know that their parents allow many more things than they can do when they are with a teacher.
These factors change their behavior in class and they often manifest less knowledge and abilities than they actually have.
8. Will bilingual learning confuse the child?
No!
All studies in the field point out the opposite – a second language in early childhood contributes to brain development. What is more, those are not considered to be two separate languages for children in the beginning.
These are just words that they gradually learn. ”Куче” and dog are like synonymous for them.
In other words – 2 words that describe the same thing. This way, they often say “dog” first, because it’s easier to pronounce. With age, they start to distinguish the languages and respond to the specific language in which they are asked to.
9. How will I know that the method works?
Undoubtedly, many parents are eager to hear their child’s first word. Notwithstanding, it is critical to clarify that ‘speaking’ is the third stage in mastering a language. On the other hand, you can check out step two, “I understand,” by asking questions that your child can answer “yes” or “no” to.
Another manner to convince you that your kid successfully master a language is to ask him to bring you / point / find something specific – “Where is the dog? What is a cat? What is blue?
Keep in mind that this should occur during play, do not overwhelm your child with questions like – “What did you learn today?”, “Tell me how do you say this in English?”.
It is vital for the infant to have fun while mastering a language, since speaking comes with confidence and a sense of security, and this requires an individual moment for each little one.
10. My child does not want to attend such classes - how do I get him to do this?
Often, the initial reaction of kids to a new thing is negative, which is normal.
You need to try to discover the exact reason for this. To achieve thas, begom asking questions like “Are you ashamed of other children?” Are you bored? Are you tired?”. Your little one will share with you when you find the right reason.
Sometimes the lessons are right after kindergarten and the infant prefers to spend time with you. That is why he does not like going somewhere else immediately. The reasons could be numerous but the main thing is not to force the kid to do something he does not enjoy. This will develop negative feelings about English or other activity that he refuses to go.
Instead, use phrases like – “Go to play!”and not “Go to study!”
